Dinosaur Eggs

Seventy-Nine Dinosaur Eggs

Through a very generous donation from Mr. Mark Manwaring we now have an eggs-traordinary collection which is the largest of its type in North America.  The seventy-nine dinosaur eggs are from the Kaoguo and Majiachun Formations of the Xixia Basin, Henan Province, Peoples Republic of China.  These are said to date from the late Cretaceous Age, about 65-75 million years ago.  These fossilized eggs vary in shape and size from about the size of a chicken egg to a very large loaf of bread.

This collection can be viewed in our Earth Science Museum.
